In news I was not expecting to hear out of Missouri, Ed Martin has been elected Chairman of the Missouri Republican Party.
I met Ed in Missouri in 2009 at the Missouri Young Republicans convention in Columbia. I was instantly impressed with Ed after the speech he gave, and I was also impressed with his social media efforts. When Ed announced in 2011 that he was going to run for the US Senate seat that eventually Todd Akin was nominated for, I wrote about that enthusiastically. And a few months later when Ed penned an op-ed for the Kansas City Citizen, I blogged about that as well. Ed eventually exited the US Senate race and instead ran for Attorney General, but he was unsuccessful in his bid.
I’m excited to see the direction the Missouri GOP takes under Ed’s leadership. I think Ed will be a big advocate for putting the Missouri GOP’s social media on steroids, resembling that of his political campaigns. I also think Ed really understands outreach. So, as the national GOP is working on its outreach problems, states like Texas and Missouri are leading locally. Support Ed and the Missouri GOP in any way you can. Let us see what happens.
